SHAME OF YOU ISRAEL
Yesterday I was trying to connect to the internet … nothing … I was a bit angry, cause I had to do something, and it wasn’t working. But you know what, Skype was working, ironic cause here in UAE it is blocked! 🙂
After few hours I finally got connection. Today I read in news that internet and phone communications between Europe, the Middle East and Asia were severely disrupted after three undersea cables were damaged in the Mediterranean. It’s still unclear how the cables were damaged, but listen that, it is gonna take almost two weeks to fix damage.
Cable damage hits India, Qatar and UAE hardest, otherwise the cable system that was cut is known as South East Asia- Middle East-Western Europe 4 and it connects 12 countries: Pakistan, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Italy and France.
Most business to business traffic between Europe and Asia was being rerouted through the US, but regular communications between Europe and several Asian countries has been disrupted for few hours. Some sites still don’t work (youtube…), but really hope that they will fix everything soon!
There is a possibility that Dubai could fail. It’s not that Dubai is too big to fail, it is too important to fail.
Too important to the Rulers,
too important to the UAE,
too important to the region and
too important to the Eastern world
that has looked at Dubai as a haven to channel goods and cash,
to invest when the West said no to their money.
There is no doubt that there will be troubled times ahead, but talk of failure is embellishment too far.
Failure is a big word.
What we will see over the coming months is phasing and prioritising. Projects will come to fruition later and
some projects wont be undertaken at all – but that is smart business practice, and whether
you are a country or a company, that is how one should be operating at present.
